ALBANY WILL REPROGRAM TRAFFIC LIGHTS.(Local)

Veteran city drivers may soon find their timing off.

The city has received a $20,000 grant from the state Energy Office to help retime traffic lights in the city in an effort to move traffic along more efficiently, according to Inspector Robert Coleman, head of the Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit.

The money will be used to help defray training and personnel costs for two traffic unit members who began courses last week

in New York City under the state's Signal Timing Optimization Program.

The aim is to prevent tie-ups and keep traffic moving, Coleman said. While there are no major problems …
