80-year-old woman charged with murder

An 80-year-old Melbourne woman has been charged with murder after a quarrel at a hostel for
the elderly ended in the death of an 84-year-old woman resident.

Police said Lai Fun, 84, died after receiving multiple stab wounds in a violent exchange at
the Victoria Elderly Chinese Hostel in Melbourne's inner west about 8.30pm on Wednesday night.

In the Melbourne Magistrates Court yesterday, Che Kien was charged with one count of
murder.
